The Institute of Plumbing South Africa (IOPSA) held its spectacular Annual Plumbing Industry Awards on September 18, 2024, at the Royal Elephant Conference Centre. The evening was a celebration of excellence, innovation, and the remarkable individuals shaping the future of South Africa's plumbing industry.
The vibrant event was MC'ed by the charismatic Rendani Tshivula, who kept the energy high, making the evening fun and memorable for everyone in attendance.
Welcoming Remarks and Nostalgia
The evening commenced with a heartfelt welcome by IOPSA President, Adriaan Myburgh. He praised the passion and dedication of IOPSA members and shared his excitement for the future, emphasizing the incredible things yet to come in the plumbing industry.
Following the President’s address, IOPSA’s Executive Director took attendees on a nostalgic journey down memory lane. With an emotional collage of past and present images, he highlighted the association’s growth, from humble beginnings to its current position of leadership. The moments captured spoke to the hard work, dedication, and passion of everyone in the room, creating a sense of pride and unity.
Awards and Recognition
After the opening, the much-anticipated awards ceremony kicked off, honoring exceptional contributions across the plumbing industry:
- Region of the Year: Southern Cape
- Plumbing Company of the Year: AB Plumbing (KZN)
- Retailer of the Year: Builders Warehouse
- Importer of the Year: Harscan Distributors
- Industry Lady of the Year: Cindy Snyman
- President’s Award: Chris and Courtney Coetzee (OHSS Consulting)
- Apprentice of the Year: Veronica Ntho
- Manufacturer of the Year: Advanced Valves
- Education Provider of the Year: KZN Plumbing Academy
In addition to these honors, special recognition awards were presented to former IOPSA Executive Director Brendan Reynolds for his unwavering dedication to the plumbing industry, and to his wife, Dianne Reynolds, for her constant support. As a final surprise, Kaela Wilson was recognized for her extraordinary service and dedication to IOPSA.
